Actor Vijay's Thuppaki in Deep Trouble

Posted: 28 Jun 2012 12:09 PM PDT

Vijay starrer Thuppaki, which is directed by AR Murugadoss, is in deep trouble with a court in Chennai banning the filmmakers from using the title. The petition was filed by debut director Ravi Devan, who had assisted Kamal Haasan in various films. In his petition, Ravi Devan had alleged that he had registered the title Kalla Thuppaki in 2009 and the shooting of this film is in progress now.

According to Ravi, the title design of his Kalla Thuppaki and Vijay's Thuppaki are so similar that it could cause undue confusion. Though a complaint was filed at the Producers' Council, Ravi Devan alleged that no action was taken as Vijay's dad SA Chandrasekar heads it.

Following this, he had knocked at the doors of the court seeking justice and had eventually got it with the court declaring that the filmmakers of Thuppaki is banned from using the title.

Actress Pooja in Viswaroopam sequel?

Posted: 28 Jun 2012 11:45 AM PDT

There have been reports that a sequel to Viswaroopam is on the cards and that Kamal Haasan has even canned quite a few scenes for it.

When we quizzed the film's leading lady Pooja Kumar recently, on the truth behind these reports, she said, "I'm an actress and my work ends with shooting the scenes that the director wants. I really don't know if some of the scenes that I have shot for will end up in the 'sequel'."
But Kamal is known to work with a bound script and so, when we pressed further on whether she has shot for scenes that weren't part of the script, she got quite evasive.
"Well, I wouldn't want to spoil the mystery behind these reports," is all she revealed, adding that she has her fingers crossed on being a part of the sequel, "if Kamal sir decides to make one."
Now, here's one girl who knows how to keep everyone guessing. Wotsay?

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 12:24 PM PDT

First it was Karthika who opted out of 'Madha Gaja Raja' (shortly 'MGR'), a film directed by Sundar C with Vishal in the lead role. And now, Taapsee, who was later roped in for the project, has also walked out of it.
Following this, Sundar has finalized his 'Kalakalappu' heroine Anjali and Sarath Kumar's daughter Varalakshmi for the double heroine subject, which has Vishal in a triple role for the first time.
It is said that Taapsee wanted to promote her Hindi film 'Chashme Badhoor' during the first week of July and hence found it difficult to accommodate dates for 'Madha Gaja Raja'.

Actor Vijay and Suriya clash again?

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 11:59 AM PDT

This August is going to be fun time for the film buffs. Two biggies of Tamil film industry are going to clash to establish supremacy at the box office. The makers of Vijay's Thuppakki recently disclosed that they are looking to release their film on August 15th. Now we hear that, KV Anand is also looking to release Maatraan in August.
The same scenario arose last year when Suriya's 7aam Arivu and Vijay's Velayudham released on the same day. In the end, 7aam Arivu scored more at the box office, when compared to the Vijay starrer.
Amidst this there are also chances of Kamal's much awaited Vishwaroopam releasing around the same time. Looks like it is going to be one hell of a clash…

Tom Hanks inspires Shaam

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 11:54 AM PDT

Shaam is busy wrapping up his dream project, which has the symbol 6 as its title and is directed by V. Z. Durai.

The movie has already created a buzz in trade circles for its intriguing content and Shaam's experimental looks.
The actor's commitment to the complex role of Ram, which spans the three different stages of a man's life, is apparent.
In the last one-and-a-half years, Shaam has turned down at least three Tollywood flicks and has been pretty much living the character he plays in this film.
He has shed 16 kilos over the last eight months, and grown his hair as well as a beard. When the director wanted a new look for the climax that is to be shot in Kolkatta, and where the actor has to sport the look of a beggar who comes in search of something, what Shaam did shocked everyone in the unit.
The actor reportedly took two weeks sabbatical and went sleepless to get that perfect look — with swollen under-eye bags (See Pic).
No one in the unit recognized him when he reported back at the locale. Speaking to DC from Hyderabad, Shaam says, "The movie 6 is very close to my heart.
There are six different looks and the story traverses six different cities namely Mumbai, Goa, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Lucknow and culminates in Kolkatta.
When Durai wanted those specific looks, I thought why not give it a try without any makeup or CG work. Hollywood star Tom Hank's looks in the film Cast Away inspired me a lot.
Closer to home, Rajini sir's risky efforts for Endhiran and Kamal sir's incredible avatars in Dasavatharam motivated me." He also revealed that the people of Kolkatta who saw him at the locale, did not believe that he was a popular star down south.

Actor Vikram - Samantha's I boasts off Rs 70 crore

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 12:39 PM PDT

If it is Shankar is at the helm of affairs, it has to be a grand and glitzy affair. The director's forthcoming film 'I', which has Vikram and Samantha in lead roles, is no exception to this.
According to sources, the film is estimated to be made at a budget of Rs 70 crore. In addition to the Tamil versions, Telugu and Hindi versions will also be made simultaneously.
"Producer Aascar V Ravichandran is happy about joining hands with Shankar and Vikram after the super hit Anniyan. All that he wants is a grand venture without any compromise on the budget," sources say.
The film will have music by A R Rahman and some of the top technicians of the world are working in it. With dialogues by writer duo Subha, the movie has story and screenplay by Shankar himself. It is a romantic thriller.

ActrTapsee doesn’t agree with ‘second lead’ concept

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 12:32 PM PDT

Actress Taapsee has signed up to be part of two multi-starrers in Tamil – Vishnuvardhan's project with Ajith, Arya and Nayanthara, and Sundar C's next with Vishal and Varalaxmi. While she is glad that she's getting to experiment with her roles in Kollywood, there's one thing that the Aadukalam actress doesn't quite agree with – the concept of playing the second lead!

Refuting reports that are in circulation in tinsel town, which says she's playing the second lead in the Ajith flick, and Varalxmi plays the second lead in the Vishal flick, she says, "I don't understand the concept of playing a second lead in a film. I've read the script of Sundar C's film, and I know what our characters are like. None of us play the conventional 'second lead' in the film. I don't know how people arrive upon the second lead idea. While in my Telugu film 'Mr Perfect', I was called the second lead because I had less screenspace, even in Veera, though I had more screenspace, I was still called the second lead!"

One More Addition to Ajith-Vishnuvardhan Project

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 12:27 PM PDT

Sultry beauty Suman Ranganath will be seen in a Tamil film after a long time. The actress has been roped in to play a journalist in the Ajith-Vishnuvardhan project. With the second schedule happening in Bengaluru now, Suman will be joining the sets.

Suman was seen in Tamil films like Pudhu Paattu, Kurumbukkaran, Maanagara Kaaval and Unnai Vazhthi Padugiren. She then moved on to Bollywood while staying put in the Kannada film industry firmly.

This untitled project also has Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee playing the lead roles along with Ajith. Vishnuvardhan is planning this film as a multi-starrer with music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
