David Gates (born December 11, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an American singer-songwriter, best known as the lead singer of the group Bread, which during the 1970s peaked the music charts with numerous well known songs. The band is now in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Gates was surrounded by music from infancy, as the son of a band director and a piano teacher. He became proficient in piano, bass and guitar by the time he enrolled in Tulsa’s Will Rogers High School. Gates joined local bands around Tulsa. During a concert in 1957, his high school band backed Chuck Berry.[1] Later, Gates released his first local hit single, “Jo-Baby,” a song he had written for his sweetheart, Jo Rita, whom he married in 1958 while enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. In 1961, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, where Gates continued writing songs, and he worked as a music copyist, as a studio musician, and as a producer for many artists — including Pat Boone. Success soon followed. His composition “Popsicles and Icicles” hit #3 on the US Hot 100 for The Murmaids in January 1964. The Monkees recorded another of his songs, “Saturday’s Child”. By the end of the 1960s, he had worked with many leading artists, including Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Merle Haggard, Phil Spector and Brian Wilson. My favourite songs from Super Smash Brothers Brawl. This video covers songs 5-1. I’m not going to reveal what I’ve chosen, but I’ll tel u how I chose my top 5. 5. A lot of people are going to disagree with this choice, but I really like this song. It’s catchy, easy to whistle and it has a nice beat. 4. Ah, this brings me back. Just rebought this game on Virtual Console and remembered how HARD it was. But this is a lovely peice, possibly just for the Grim Reaper Dance. 3. Quite simply, one of the most recognisable songs in gaming remixed to perfection. 2. My favourite game on DS spawned this classic song which I could listen to for hours on end. 1. Many have said this is the best song in Brawl, and they’re right. From my favourite game on the SNES comes this musical gem which, if released as a single, would sell millions. Disagree with my choices? Don’t keep it to yourself, comment! TRY TO IGNORE THE BIG RED NUMBERS, BECUASE THEY ARE MOSTLY WRONG.  Happy 40th, Sesame Street! Big Bird, Ernie, and Bob sing “A Little Bit Bigger,” a song by Jeff Moss that was on the LP Happy Birthday from Sesame Street, but not on the CD release. Pics are from the Sesame Street Music Magazine, published monthly for about 3 school-years in the mid-’80s for classroom use. The magazine served as an activity book to go along with an instructional record. Caroll Spinney speaks occasionally as Big Bird on the records, but the audio content is mostly non-Sesame, including numerous original songs written for the instructional activities of the magazine. |
